Our Volunteers
Our volunteers are compassionate and caring people who provide emotional and practical support to individuals living with a life threatening illness.
All of our volunteers participate in the following processes before being able to volunteer for Hospice.
- Screening – includes police check, references, screening and graduating interviews, insurance and immunization verification, driver’s abstract.
- Training – Hospice volunteers who work directly with individuals with a life threatening illness or their family members must attend 33-hours of hospice palliative care training.
- Support – Professional Hospice staff and Volunteer Team Leaders are in place to provide ongoing support to our volunteers throughout the duration of their volunteer placement. Monthly education sessions on hospice-related topics are organized to keep volunteers current on the effective delivery of palliative care services.
