Capital Campaign Update

In June 2009, Hospice of Waterloo Region purchased a five thousand square foot building at 298 Lawrence Avenue in Kitchener, to become the permanent home of the Hospice Family Centre.

Over the last several months, Hospice of Waterloo Region’s Building Task Force has worked closely with Greystone Design to finalize a floor and site plan and to develop an interior and exterior design concept.

Five pre-qualified contractors were invited to tender a bid for the needed renovations to the Hospice Family Centre. On November 25th, the Board of Directors awarded the contract to Scheidel Contractors Ltd. Renovations on the building began in January 2010 and are expected to take approximately four months to complete.

We look forward to our Grand Opening sometime in the spring 2010.

While we have funds to cover most of the renovations to the Family Hospice Centre, we are still gratefully accepting capital donations. It has long been the vision of Hospice of Waterloo Region to have one central non-residential facility that provides a place for families affected by a life threatening illness to be supported by a team of hospice palliative care professionals and volunteers. Please help us make this facility a centre of excellence in end-of-life care for our Region ~ our clients and their families deserve the very best.
