Event Details

We are excited to announce that we have invited Dr. Kathryn Mannix, who studied and practiced palliative care for 30 years, to join us for a virtual conversation about listening and Advance Care Planning (ACP) conversations.

Dr. Mannix is the bestselling author of With the End in Mind: Dying Death and Wisdom in the Age of Denial, which is a “must read” amongst our ACP champions, and we often quote her in our ACP presentations.

Join us on April 12th for a webinar in which Dr. Mannix will explore her latest book, Listen: How to Find the Words for Tender Conversations, and the wisdom in these pages that can encourage better act conversations. She will also talk about ACP “What Matters Most” conversations, and take questions about her books and her experiences.

This event is in honour of National Advance Care Planning Day on April 16th.

Let’s get these conversations started together.

ABOUT THE EVENT

At the April 12th webinar, Dr. Mannix will discuss:

1. The principles of tender conversations — a kind of ‘how-to’ following the structure of her book, Listen

2. How those skills can be used in ACP conversations within families, and also between clinicians and patients/families/Substitute Decision Makers.

3. The ‘Unwelcome News’ framework

There will also be time for Q&As.
