Gina's Closet

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Gina’s Closet, a long-time supporter of Hospice Waterloo Region. Since 2014, this incredible volunteer-run organization has donated over $54,000 — including an amazing $16,510 in the past year alone — to help us provide compassionate care and support to individuals and families in our community.

Gina’s Closet operates with a heartfelt mission: Brides Helping Brides. Through generous donations of previously loved wedding and event dresses, the store offers new brides the chance to purchase their dream gown at a reduced price — with 100% of bridal sales donated to local cancer charities.

The store is named in honour of Gina Luciantonio, a wife and mother of three young girls who passed away from breast cancer in January 2005. Gina was a chartered accountant for both the cities of Waterloo and Kitchener and was deeply involved in her community. She touched countless lives through her kindness, volunteerism, and dedication. The founders of Gina’s Closet — dear friends of Gina — created this project to continue her legacy of love, generosity, and connection.

During our visit, we met the dedicated volunteer board who keep Gina’s spirit alive through their tireless work. Located in the St. Jacobs Outlet Mall, the boutique is filled with beautiful wedding gowns, grad and special occasion dresses, mother-of-the-bride and groom outfits, and even a vintage collection. It’s a wonderful space that radiates warmth, purpose, and community spirit.

At Hospice Waterloo Region, we are privileged to be one of the charities supported by Gina’s Closet. Their ongoing commitment reminds us that community-driven fundraising can create ripples of impact — offering care, comfort, and dignity to those who need it most.
